Did you know :: that during a 30 year career on a salary of on average £15k per year a female worker could earn up to £100,000 LESS than a male co-worker

The Equal Pay Act  :: was introduced almost 40 years ago and still there remains a disparity between pay scales for men and women in the UK workplace.

NHS staff worker

The client in this case was employed as an auxiliary. She had worked at the same hospital for 15 years but became aware that her pay was much lower than a new male colleague.

Further enquiries revealed that because the client had been with a specific department for so long, she had been ignored when certain pay reviews were processed. The result was that she was receiving 18% less than her co-workers. However, the Trust concerned refused to look at the disparity in wages.

With our help we managed to secure the maximum award payable under the current rules and added interest to the sum. The case was settled amicably with no need for proceedings.

Council worker

This particular claimant was a carer with the local authority. Along with a number of colleagues she had been disadvantaged over the years with regards to her pay. She was not at the correct remuneration level despite this being brought to the managements attention. A letter of grievance only led to harsh words from her line manager.

We won an award for the client equitable to 3 years back pay plus interest.
